Recently I had a patient who came to increase her fertility in the hopes of getting pregnant more quickly. And guess what, after 5 weeks of treatments she became pregnant! She responded very well to treatment, was basically a healthy woman and voila!
Not everyone responds this quickly, although I have had others; but what does it actually take to get pregnant if it seems to be taking way to long?
This depends on a variety of factors, such as age, constitution, overall health, stress level, diet, daily habits, emotional support and many more. In dealing with infertility we must take into account many areas of a person’s life and lifestyle. In Chinese Medicine we look at every aspect of your life.
Sometimes there is a simple solution, sometimes it is very complex. The more complex the situation, often the longer it takes.
My advice to you is, do everything you can do to make healthy changes in your lifestyle.
Here is my big to do list.
- Give up smoking, alcohol, caffeine, late nights.
- Sleep as much as you can at night
- Eat whole foods.
- Drink filtered water.
- Eat lots of vegetables.
- Keep your belly warm.
- Exercise at least 4 times a week.
- Reduce stress in your life as much as possible.
- Include a spiritual practice of some kind in your life.
- Connect with nature, feel the fertile nature of our mother earth.
- Include some type of creative activity in your life.
- Get support whether from friends, family, a support group or a health practitioner.
All of these activities will heal you body, mind and spirit and thereby increase your fertility. Remember, becoming pregnant is a creative act. You are helping to create a new life. Everything you put into this creative act will serve to give you the best possible outcome.
