Have you ever thought about doing a detox? Maybe you have done a detox before. Detoxes come in all sizes and flavors and maybe you have tried them all, or maybe you have never tried one at all because they seem difficult and intimidating.
You might wonder what exactly is a detox good for after all and when is the best time to do one?
Well, spring is an excellent time to clean house so to speak. It’s an excellent time to lighten up your body’s load of toxins. In a detox we are taking the burden off your body organs. It helps eliminate the toxic goop we put in our bodies throughout the year. Unless you grow your own food to eat and know exactly what you are putting in your body, you are most likely getting some amount of toxins in your diet. If you eat in restaurants or get take out food you are probably eating some amount of pesticide residue in your food. I know, YUK! When we eat things like this the toxins get stored in our fat cells and we all have fat cells!
There are many other things we are exposed to daily that add up to the toxic burden our bodies may face including car and airplane exhaust, alcohol consumption, creams, lotions and cosmetics we use daily that contain hormone disrupting chemicals. It’s pretty hard to avoid exposure.
So what is a detox good for?
It can take the burden from your liver, kidneys and digestive tract and let your system rest and cleanse. These organs (and others) help the body remove toxic substances. If you have had a toxic overloaded for a while, they are working hard to eliminate this stuff.
As a result of detoxing you can improve energy and mental clarity. It can also help eliminate allergies, headaches, extra weight, difficult menstrual periods, acne and breakouts. It can help boost your immune system too.
Acupuncture can help with the process of elimination as it helps improve the flow of blood and lymph allowing the toxins to more easily be removed. Cupping is an excellent additional method used in Chinese Medicine to get things moving.
This spring I am offering an acupuncture detox special in my Culver City office. This includes one acupuncture and cupping session.
All for the low price of $70 for existing patients and $120 for new patients (includes initial health evaluation for new patients).
