I started my journey into natural health early in life. My father was a Naturopathic Physician and Chiropractor and instilled in me a respect for healthy eating and living. In overcoming a skin problem in my adolescence through the use of diet alone, I was hooked on the path of natural medicine. I became interested in herbal medicine at the age of 17 and began studying western herbs and herbs used by Native Americans. This has become a life long study.
When later in life I discovered Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine it was a perfect match for my continuing interest in alternative healing methods. The deciding factors that pushed me to study Chinese Medicine and to specialize in Women’s Health and Fertility were my own fertility challenges and the women’s health challenges of my female family members. While I watched first hand how they struggled with endometriosis and ovarian cysts, I knew I would focus my attentions here. The medical solutions available to them were surgery and more surgery. And still the problems persisted.
I knew there was a better way. I watched as women who went to acupuncture and used Chinese herbal medicine got results without surgery. I saw that women were getting pregnant after years of trying, by using Chinese Medicine and acupuncture. That is why I chose this path.
Along the way I have also studied and practiced Therapeutic Massage Therapy, various meditation techniques and other modalities, for self healing and teaching others to heal themselves.
I am a California State Board licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, as well as a diplomat with the NCCAOM, the National Certification Board, in Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. I graduated with highest honors from Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2002 with the degree Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I have also completed and continue to pursue postgraduate work in Chinese medical gynecology, women’s health and fertility. I have also more recently begun to add pain relief and a more in depth study of acupuncture orthopedics to my expertise.
My goal is to help women reach their highest potential with excellent health and with self knowledge of women’s health issues. Not only do I focus on helping women through the stages of life from menstruation to childbirth to menopause and beyond, but I seek to educate women on these stages to demystify and empower women in every phase of life.
I am a professional member of Resolve, the national infertility association.
I have appeared on Discovery Channel’s Fit TV, Fit Nation, and East Meets West with Gina Lombardi where she experiences acupuncture for the first time!
I also hold a BA in English Literature from UCLA and an MA in Fine Art from Cal State University, Northridge.
